- How deep should a shell driveway be?The short answer is about three inches of shell over a compacted base, but the depth people usually get wrong is the one underneath.

- West YarmouthThe Route 28 side of the town, busy in season and quieter than it looks in February.
- Dennis PortCalled Crocker's Nest until 1862, and a proper seaside resort within a generation of the railroad arriving.
- South DennisThe inland village, with neither coast to complicate things.
- Harwich PortWychmere was a kettle pond with a horse racing track round it until the channel was cut in 1887.
